Fun by the Sea

Family on the beach

If you’re looking for a fantastic day out the whole family can enjoy, then grab your buckets and spades and head for Felixstowe for a great day of fun by the sea!

Take the A14 or jump on the train for four miles of sand and shingle beaches, colourful beach huts, promenade, amusements and Pier, Felixstowe is the great British seaside at its best, and so much more.

Once you’re here, grab some sandwiches for a picnic in one of the many places in town and head for the seafront. With your spot selected, your rug laid out and the sunscreen on, it’s time to start making some sandcastles and paddling in the sea... don't get any sand in your sandwiches though!

After some fun on the beach, take a walk along the promenade and explore The Seafront Gardens In the summer months you can also take in the views of the sea with a ride on the road train that travels up and down the promenade. Just listen out for the music that lets you know it’s on its way.

There are places to take tea and buy ice creams along the seafront. The Little Ice Cream Company sells a wonderful range of ice creams made on the premises using fresh milk from Felixstowe’s dairy herd at Adams Farm.

Throughout the year, the seafront is the focus for a variety of events, including car rallies, fun runs, fairs and the popular Art on the Prom. Please visit our What's On section for the latest events and activities.

For an oasis of green open space, Langer Park with its play area is just five minutes from the seafront and definitely worth a visit.

In the afternoon, head down to the Pier for the amusements and try your luck on the slot machines - see how many tokens you can collect! On past the Pier and you can have a donkey ride, a real seaside tradition.

Carry on along the seafront and you’ll find plenty more places to continue the fun. Have a go on the Railroad Express train ride, drive the go-karts or make a splash with the aqua bubbles at Ocean Boulevard before testing your skills on the nine hole mini golf course and games at Family Amusements

And it doesn’t stop there. Visit the Forum for amusements for all ages and kiosks selling all your seaside favourites, before arriving at Manning's, where you will find children’s themed rides, games, fruit machines and magical golf. After all that excitement, you’ll be ready to enjoy another seaside tradition that Felixstowe does very well, fish and chips! There’s a shop not too far away, just outside Manning's on the corner of Micklegate Road, which is very popular.

And if you’re not ready for bed quite yet, why not see what’s on at the Palace Cinema
